Filipino Mahjong: Joker Rules is designed with privacy in mind. The game works fully without an account — by default all game data stays on your device. Optional Google or Apple sign-in lets you save your progress so it survives uninstall and syncs across devices, and Online Multiplayer sends the data needed to play with others over the internet. Both are your choice; the rest of the game works without them. We never sell or share your data.
01Who We Are
Filipino Mahjong: Joker Rules is an independently developed mobile game by Bayanihan Games. If you have any questions about this privacy policy, you can contact us at filipinomahjong@gmail.com.
02Information We Collect
Filipino Mahjong: Joker Rules is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal information to make the game function properly.
Information stored locally on your device:
Username — a display name you choose when you first open the app. It is stored on your device. It is shared with the other players at your table only when you play Online Multiplayer (see Section 3), and is saved with your cloud progress if you sign in.
Mahjong Points (MP) — your competitive points total. Wins add MP, losses subtract MP (floored at zero). Your tier (Baguhan through Hari ng Mahjong) is derived from this total. Stored locally only.
Game history — your win/loss record, total winnings, high score, and recent game results, stored locally for your personal Stats display.
Cosmetic unlocks — which table designs and tile sets you've unlocked by reaching new tiers, stored locally so they persist between sessions.
Achievement progress — which of the in-game achievements you've unlocked, stored locally so they persist between sessions.
Daily challenge state — today's daily challenge, your progress on it, your current streak, and grace-day tracking, stored locally on your device.
Bots defeated — which named AI opponents you've defeated at the table, stored locally for the Bot Defeats achievements.
Game preferences — settings such as sound on/off, stored locally on your device.
Game state — timestamps and session data used for daily-challenge windows and one-time onboarding flags, stored locally on your device.
All of the above data is stored using your device's local storage. It does not leave your device unless you choose to sign in (Cloud Save) or play Online Multiplayer — both described in Section 3. Note: when visiting the marketing website at filipinomj.com, anonymized analytics data is collected via Google Analytics; on the web version of the game (play.filipinomj.com) error monitoring and product analytics with session replay are collected via Sentry and PostHog; and in the Android/iOS app anonymized gameplay statistics are collected via Google Firebase Analytics with anonymous crash diagnostics via Google Firebase Crashlytics. All of these are described in Section 9.
Information collected only if you choose to sign in (optional):
Account identifier — a unique ID (UID) issued by Firebase Authentication when you sign in with Google or Apple. Used only to identify your account.
Email address — provided by Google or Apple when you sign in. If you choose Apple's "Hide My Email" option, we only receive Apple's private relay address, not your real email.
Display name — provided by Google or Apple, if available. We do not display this name to other players.
A copy of your game progress — the same data fields listed above (Mahjong Points, tier, milestones, cosmetics, daily challenge state, scores, achievement progress) is mirrored to Google Firestore under your account ID. This is what lets your progress survive uninstall and sync across devices. Device-only items such as your local sound preference and your local username are NOT synced.
If you don't sign in, none of the above is collected and no game data leaves your device. You can sign in or sign out at any time from Settings, and you can permanently delete your cloud account — see Section 8.
Information we do NOT collect:
Your real name
Your email address
Your location
Your contacts or address book
Your phone number
Any payment or financial information
Any device identifiers beyond what is standard for app operation
03Accounts, Cloud Save & Online Multiplayer
Filipino Mahjong: Joker Rules does not require an account. You can play the entire game — solo and pass-and-play — without signing in, with all data kept on your device. The username you enter is stored on your device for display purposes (and is shared with other players only during Online Multiplayer, below).
Optional sign-in. If you want your progress to survive uninstalling the app, or you want to use the same account across multiple devices, you can sign in using your existing Google or Apple account. Sign-in is initiated by you from Settings; we never block any feature behind sign-in and we never prompt you to sign in.
When you sign in:
Your email and display name are provided by Google or Apple and stored in Firebase Authentication under a unique account ID.
Your game progress (Mahjong Points, tier, milestones, cosmetics, daily challenge state, scores) is mirrored to Google Firestore under that same account ID.
If you sign in for the first time on a device that already has local progress, and your account also has cloud progress, you are presented with a choice screen to pick which set to keep.
You can sign out at any time from Settings. Sign-out leaves your local progress intact and does not delete your cloud profile — you can sign back in later and your data will be there. To permanently delete your cloud account, see Section 8 or use the dedicated Account Deletion page.
Online Multiplayer. When you host or join an online table, the following is sent to Google Firebase so others can play with you in real time: a short room code, the display name you chose, and the live game state (tiles played, discards, whose turn it is). Your display name is visible to the other players at your table. Players who do not sign in are given an anonymous identifier purely so the game can tell seats apart — it is not linked to your real identity. This game data is temporary and scoped to the table; it is not used to build a profile of you, and it is removed when the table ends. Online play is entirely optional.
04In-Game Points and Rewarded Ads
Filipino Mahjong: Joker Rules uses a single in-app point system called Mahjong Points (MP) for progression. MP have no real-world monetary value and cannot be exchanged, transferred, or redeemed for real money or any goods or services outside of the app.
The app does not currently offer in-app purchases. You earn MP by winning hands, completing daily challenges, and optionally by watching rewarded video ads. There is no way to convert real money into Mahjong Points inside the app, and there are no paid point packs or currency tiers.
If in-app purchases are added in a future version, this section will be updated and any payment processing will be handled entirely by Google Play (or Apple's App Store for iOS), governed by their respective privacy policies and terms of service.
05Advertising
Filipino Mahjong: Joker Rules may display advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use certain information about your device and usage to provide relevant advertisements. This may include:
Advertising ID (a resettable identifier on your device)
Device type and operating system version
General location information (country or region level)
App usage and interaction data
This data is collected and used by Google AdMob in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time through your device settings:
Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → Personalized Ads (off). To deny app-tracking requests entirely: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Allow Apps to Request to Track (off).
We do not have access to the data that AdMob collects and we do not use it for any purpose beyond displaying advertisements within the app.
06Children's Privacy
Filipino Mahjong: Joker Rules is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. The game is a points-based skill game with no real-money wagering and no real-money payouts of any kind, and is rated for users aged 13 and older.
If you believe a child under 13 has used this application, please contact us at filipinomahjong@gmail.com and we will take appropriate steps.
07Data Storage and Security
All game data is stored locally on your device using standard app local-storage mechanisms. Your local data is as secure as your device itself.
If you uninstall the app and have not signed in, all locally stored game data including your username, Mahjong Points, tier, achievements, cosmetic unlocks, daily challenge progress, and game history will be permanently deleted from your device.
If you have signed in (Section 3), a copy of your progress is also stored in Google Firestore as part of the Firebase platform. Data is transmitted between your device and Firestore over encrypted HTTPS connections, and is protected by Firestore security rules that allow each signed-in user to read and write only their own account document. No other user — including us — can read your individual game progress. Firebase Authentication and Firestore are operated by Google under Google's infrastructure security standards.
Online Multiplayer game data (room code, display names, and live game state) is also stored in Firestore while a table is active, over the same encrypted connections, and is removed when the table ends. Concealed tiles are protected by security rules so only their owner can read them.
08How to Delete Your Data
You can delete all data stored by Filipino Mahjong: Joker Rules at any time. The exact steps depend on whether you've signed in.
To delete local device data (always available):
In-app reset: Settings → Reset Account. Clears all local game data including your username, Mahjong Points, tier, achievements, cosmetic unlocks, daily challenge progress, and history.
Uninstall the app: permanently removes all locally stored data from your device.
To delete cloud account data (only applies if you've signed in):
In-app Account Deletion (preferred): Settings → Delete Account. This permanently erases your cloud profile (your Firebase Authentication user record and your Firestore game-data document), signs you out, and clears local data so you can keep playing as a guest. This is the most direct path.
Web-based deletion request: if you no longer have access to the app or your account, visit our dedicated Account Deletion page for instructions to request deletion by email.
Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. After deletion, your Firebase Authentication record and Firestore document are removed and cannot be recovered.
09Third-Party Services
Filipino Mahjong: Joker Rules currently uses or may use the following third-party services:
Google Play — for app distribution and in-app purchases. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Fonts — for typography. Fonts are loaded from Google's servers. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics (marketing website only) — for analytics on filipinomj.com. Google Analytics (GA4) sets cookies and collects information such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, session duration, and referrer URL. This tracking only runs on the marketing website. It is not active in the Android/iOS app. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Firebase Analytics (Android/iOS app only) — for anonymous gameplay and usage statistics within the mobile app. Firebase Analytics collects information such as which menus you open, how many games you start and finish, ad interactions, and general device/OS information. No personally identifiable information is collected. You can opt out of personalized tracking in your device's advertising ID settings. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Firebase Crashlytics (Android/iOS app only) — for crash and error reporting. When the app crashes or encounters an unhandled error, Crashlytics collects diagnostic information such as device model, operating system version, app version, and a stack trace describing where the crash occurred. This helps us identify and fix bugs quickly. No personally identifiable information is included in crash reports. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Firebase Authentication (sign-in & online play) — manages your sign-in with Google or Apple (storing your email, display name, and a unique account identifier), and, for Online Multiplayer, issues an anonymous identifier if you have not signed in so the game can tell players apart. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Cloud Firestore (Cloud Save & online play) — stores your saved game progress (the fields listed in Section 2's sign-in subsection) when you sign in, and the live table data (room code, display names, game state) while you play Online Multiplayer. Documents are protected by Firestore security rules so each user can read only their own data. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Sign in with Apple (only if you choose Apple sign-in) — Apple authenticates your identity and shares your email and name with us. If you choose Apple's "Hide My Email" option, we receive a private relay address instead of your real email and cannot see your true address. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Sentry (web version of the game only) — error monitoring on play.filipinomj.com. When the web game hits an error, Sentry records technical diagnostics (browser type, operating system, page URL, a stack trace) and a short replay of the on-screen interactions leading up to it, with any text you type masked. No personally identifiable information is collected. Governed by Sentry's Privacy Policy.
PostHog (web version of the game only) — product analytics and session replay on play.filipinomj.com. PostHog records anonymous usage events (which screens and buttons you use, games started and finished) and a visual replay of your gameplay session (mouse, taps, and screens viewed), with any text you type masked. Used only to understand and improve the game. No personally identifiable information is collected. Governed by PostHog's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to any other outside parties.
10Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time as the app adds new features such as a global leaderboard or additional third-party services. When we make significant changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Continued use of Filipino Mahjong: Joker Rules after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
